First Class E-mail

As of August 2007, we are moving to a new e-mail system called First Class
This system is used by many NYC area and national Independent Schools
If your name is Jane Doe, then once we set up your account, your e-mail address will be jdoe@cstorefront.org
You can make your old e-mail account forward all subsequent e-mail to your new e-mail account
Or you can make your new e-mail account forward all subsequent e-mail to your old e-mail account
One advantage of First Class is that you can access your e-mail from any computer and it stays on the server so that it will look the same from a home computer, a school computer, a Mac or a PC
Each faculty member will also have a portfolio where you can store up to 100 meg of files
First Class also allows shared private conferences so that only a designated few people can have access to a CONFERENCE of shared files
First Class also supports chatting on-line with other members of the Storefront community

Getting Started

You need to install the First Class software ("it is called the client")
Click here to go to Web site of www.centrinity.com where you can easily download the software ony Mac or PC ("it is totally legal and honest to download to as many computers as you want" ... your mailbox will look the same and will look current on each computer)
After you download the software to your Mac or PC, you will need to configure this screen BEFORE you get onto the system
To configure the above screen, you need to click on SETUP and change the SERVER NAME to be bbs.cstorefront.org ... see example below ... (there is no need any longer to use the number of 192.168.1.41 which was necessary in the early days)
remember that you will need a login and password from me (Steve Bergen) in order to get into the system ... my phone is 781-953-9699 ... please do NOT hesitate to call me for help ... even if you are a Yankees fan ;-)

1. Step 1: login to http://webmail.registeredsite.com
2. Step 2: choose OPTIONS on the left side
3. Step 3: choose RULES at the top
4. Step 4: put in your NEW e-mail address where it says FORWARDING
See graphic below but beware that you cannot make your old e-mail go to your new e-mail AND also make your new e-mail go to your old e-mail ... if you do so, you will create a loop and get a new e-mail every 33 seconds!

1. Step 1: when on First Class go to PREFERENCES under the EDIT MENU
2. Step 2: now choose the MESSAGING TAB
3. Step 3: choose MAIL RULES and you will see where it gives options re "Automatically Forward"

First Class: Plan B

Click here to log in to your First Class e-mail account on your computer WITHOUT INSTALLING the First Class software. This is called the Web based version of First Class and is intended for when you stop at a kiosk somewhere and just want to check your e-mail without bothering to install. The interface is different and so it can be a bit confusing. But you can send and receive e-mail including attached files of course. Your login and password via this Plan B are "case-sensitive" and so if your login is KEgmont and your password is WorldSeries, please make sure you use the correct upper and lower case. Our Archive Server (Tech Usage Only)
